Hull vs Chelsea Preview: How to Watch on TV, Live Stream, Kick Off Time & Team News

Promotion chasers Hull face Frank Lampard’s Chelsea in the fourth round of the FA Cup this weekend, as they look to take advantage of the Blues' diffuse priorities.

Hull’s form has stumbled in recent weeks, losing their last two matches as they begin to lose ground on their playoff rivals.

Chelsea have also struggled with their form in the last month, managing just two wins in five including a shock 1-0 defeat away to Newcastle last weekend.

Team News

Hull City will definitely be without midfielder Kevin Stewart as he recovers from a broken metatarsal in his foot, while Jon Toral will begin his rehab following knee surgery and could return at the end of February. Norbert Balogh is also out with a calf injury, but Jordy De Wijs could return to the squad as he recovers from a calf issue of his own.

Chelsea are still waiting to find out the extent of the injury picked up by Tammy Abraham on Tuesday night, while Ruben Loftus Cheek and Christian Pulisic remain unavailable.

Predicted Lineups

Hull City Long; Burke, Elder, Tafazolli; Lichaj, Bowen, Irvine, Bowler, Leonardo; Kane, Magennis.
Chelsea Caballero; Emerson, Rudiger, Azpilicueta, Christensen; Kante, Mount, Barkley; Hudson-Odoi; Willian, Batshuayi.

Head-to-Head Record

These two sides have met 47 times, Chelsea coming out on top an impressive 33 times compared to Hull City’s measly four. With both sides struggling for form, Hull might see this an opportunity to cause an upset and go on an unexpected cup run.

Chelsea have won the last five meetings between the sides.

Recent Form

After winning three games in a row, Hull had begun to close the gap between themselves and the playoff places, but back-to-back defeats to Hull and Derby have seen the Tigers drop back into mid-table.

Alfie Mawson,Eric Lichaj

Chelsea will have been disappointed to be pegged back twice by ten-man Arsenal in midweek on the heels of their 1-0 defeat to Newcastle, especially after wins against Burnley in the league and Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup had suggested an uptick in form.

Here’s how each team has fared in their last five games.

Hull Chelsea
Derby 1-0 Hull (18/1) Chelsea 2-2 Arsenal (21/1)
Hull 0-1 Fulham (11/1) Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea (18/1)
Rotherham 2-3 Hull (4/1) Chelsea 3-0 Burnley (11/1)
Sheffield Wednesday0-1 Hull (1/1) Chelsea 2-0 Nottingham Forest (5/1)
QPR 1-2 Hull (29/12) Brighton 1-1 Chelsea (1/1)

Prediction

With both sides in indifferent form, it is difficult not to lean towards Chelsea (on account of them being fourth in the Premier League with hundreds of millions of pounds of talent) over Hull (on account of them being 12th in the Championship with a much more conservatively assembled squad).

Hull 1-2 Chelsea
