City Win Back Trophy

Two goals early in the first half secured victory, so City won back the Billy Bly Memorial Trophy having lost last year's contest 1-0 at Church Road.

City went ahead when a quickly taken free kick by Shaun Smith met the head of Clayton Donaldson to make it 1-0.

Minutes later, the lead was doubled by Daniel Webb as he turned and shot from 15 yards, leaving Ferriby 'keeper Paul Sharp no chance.

The home side came closest to getting a goal when ex-Tiger Rob Dewhurst saw his free kick hit the inside of Paul Musselwhite's post, but the ball bounced back out and City were let off.

The second half was poorer as a spectacle with neither side really threatening to score, so the game ended 2-0 and City took home the trophy.

City line-up (4-4-2): Musselwhite; Regan, Burton, Strong, Smith; Williams (O'Neill 45), Melton, Fry, Peat; Webb, Donaldson.
