Away Start For Reserves

Peter Taylor's second string - who won the Division One East League last season - will go to the McAlpine Stadium on Wednesday 20th August, taking on Huddersfield reserves (kick-off at 2pm).

As well as winning the league last term, City's reserves also got to the Central League Cup Final, but that fixture still hasn't taken place due to the other finalist - Doncaster Rovers - being involved in the Conference play-offs at the end of the season, ending with them winning promotion to Division Three. The League Cup Final will take place on Tuesday 5th August (kick-off 7pm), and will be played at the Church Road ground in North Ferriby. Admission is £2 adults, £1 concessions, and season tickets will not allow free entry.

Victory in that game, which would ensure a 'double' triump for City reserves, would set City up nicely for a season in the newly established Pontins Holiday League Premier Division this season. After the opener against Huddersfield, City then go to the Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield to play Rotherham a week later, before the first home game, which is against Sheffield United on 10th September at Boothferry Park (kick-off 7pm).

Bradford, Barnsley, Stoke, Walsall, Sheffield Wednesday, Preston and Burnley will also be among the opposition before the last scheduled game of the season takes place on 28th April 2004, at Tranmere Rovers.
