The midfielder went to hospital after suffering an ankle injury in training earlier this week. Peter Taylor is hopeful of him making a recovery in time, but Andy Hessenthaler is on standby.

Goalkeeper Boaz Myhill has suffered a knee injury this week, but he isn't thought to be in danger of missing the game.

Elliott meanwhile is set to return after a two-match absence in which City only picked up one point. The 27-goal winger - who played in Northern Ireland's defeats to England and Poland - will replace Kevin Ellison.

Taylor has decisions to make with the full back positions. Roland Edge and Marc Joseph were selected for Monday's defeat at Oldham, but Andy Dawson and Robbie Stockdale may be recalled for tomorrow's home game.

Right winger Jason Price may also be considered for a recall in place of Ryan France, but Stuart Green looks like he still won't be over an ankle injury.

Expected line-up (4-4-2): Myhill; Stockdale, Cort, Delaney, Dawson; France, Ashbee, Lewis, Elliott; Fagan, Barmby.
Subs from: Duke, Joseph, Edge, Hessenthaler, Price, Ellison, Walters, Wilbraham.
