After the game, Norwich manager Nigel Worthington was relieved with his side's equaliser.
"We kept going and kept plugging away I'm delighted with the performance," he said.
"It's a well earned point.
"We passed the ball really well and worked very hard and on a good day we could have had two penalties."
Hull manager Peter Taylor was philosophical after the late equaliser.
"I probably would have taken that point this morning," he said.
"We scored a very good set piece goal and I don't think Norwich created that much."
Hull started brightly with giant striker Jon Parkin proving to be a real handful to the visiting defence.
However, with midfields dominating, there were few chances in the opening quarter of the game.
Hull snatched the lead with 25 minutes played. Adam Drury was forced to head behind a dangerous cross from Damien Delaney and from the resulting corner Cort scored with a powerful header from six yards.
Hull's players were sitting very deep and inviting Norwich to attack but the away side were finding it difficult to calve out opportunities.
Sixteen minutes from time Worthington introduced Leon McKenzie and Paul McVeigh and three minutes later the pair combined to find Doherty at the back post. His angled shot cannoned off Delaney and rolled into the net to give Norwich a point.
