The visitors took the lead on 21 minutes through Matt Heath with Nicky Forster equalising for Hull in first-half injury time but Alan Thompson sealed the win for his Leeds side on 50 minutes with a curling free-kick.

Thompson tested Boaz Myhill early on as he curled a left-footed free-kick towards goal from just outside the box but the Hull keeper was able to parry the ball to safety.

Forster came close to opening the scoring for Hull soon after as Dean Marney curled in a free-kick from the right and Forster rose to head the ball just wide of the post from five yards.

Leeds found themselves in front on 21 minutes as Thompson delivered a curling free-kick from the right and Tresor Kandol rose in the area to flick the ball on to Heath who managed to lob the ball over Myhill from close range to put the visitors ahead.

Dean Windass had a chance from a free-kick towards the end of the half after Forster was brought down on the edge of the box, but the Hull man's curling shot from 20 yards looped just over the bar.

The home side equalised on the stroke of half-time as Marney sent in a free-kick from the right towards Michael Turner who powered in a header from close range with Neil Sullivan only managing to parry the ball in front of Forster who pounced the slam the ball right-footed into the back of the net.

The visitors restored their lead early in the second half when they were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box and Thompson stepped up to curl the ball left-footed into the bottom corner of the net from 20 yards.

Stuart Elliott nearly equalised for Hull minutes after coming on but his fired left-footed volley from 15 yards flew past Sullivan's left-hand post.

Kandol fired in a shot late on for Leeds but his effort from 15 yards was tipped over the bar by Myhill.
