Hull condemned Ipswich to their third straight defeat with a 1-0 victory at the KC stadium.

A Robert Koren thunderbolt 13 minutes from time ensured Nigel Person's men all three points and moved them up to 18th in the Championship table.

The visitors came close early on as Hull failed to clear their lines, allowing Jason Scotland a chance from close range but keeper Vito Mannone did well to charge out and smother the danger.

Hull then hit the woodwork twice in a minute towards the end of the half as first a Kevin Kilbane header hit the post from close range, then skipper Ian Ashbee saw his thunderous right footed effort slam against the cross bar from the edge of the area.

David Norris came close for Roy Keane's side on the hour mark but his speculative shot from distance flew just over the cross bar.

Hull then took the lead on 77 minutes as Koren picked up the ball 25 yards from goal and fired a superb right footed shot into the bottom right corner of the net to register his fourth goal of the season.

Ipwswich substitute Thomas Priskin nearly had his side level five minutes from time but the Hungarian's spectacular effort from 25 yards flew inches wide of the post.

Tigers' substitute Nick Barmby could've doubled his side's lead in inury time as a counter attack allowed the ex-England man to race in on goal, however, his low left footed effort was comfortably saved by keeper Brian Murphy.
