Season Review: Blackburn Rovers

Last updated : 10 June 2009 By Brian Crawford
How did your season go? Did Blackburn finish where you expected them to?
The season overall was a poor one. I expected a difficult season after losing Mark Hughes, but not as difficult as it turned out to be. Just relieved to have stayed up in the end.

Who was Blackburn's player of the year?
Stephen Warnock was voted player of the year. He also won the Players' Player of the Year award.

Who were the best players you saw play against Blackburn?
Adebayor, Fabregas, Rooney, Ronaldo, Anelka and Torres.

What did you make of Hull City?
Hull City did well. They are workmanlike, play to thier strengths and, like the majority of teams last year apart from the so-called big four, are capable of beating anyone on their day. I have to say I think next season will be the big test for them.

Where do you need to strengthen this summer?
It all depends who leaves. As it stands we need a right back, a creative midfield player and a winger. If Roque Santa Cruz and Matt Derbyshire leave we will need a striker.

Who'll be on their way out?
Ooijer, Tugay, Mokoena and Simpson have already departed and I would expect Santa Cruz to leave.

Blackburn's best 11 of the season?
We suffered long term injuries to key players like Emerton, Dunn and Reid, plus Santa Cruz took his eye off the ball, but a fit Santa Cruz would still be in my starting eleven.
