Season Review 2005/06

Last updated : 30 April 2006 By Andy Beill
How was your season?
We wanted to compete in this division and stay clear of relegation. Our attempts to do this were not helped by injuries to our summer signings and some key players, but the bottom three have rarely looked like creeping up on us.

Happy with the gaffer?
Some fans will always have unrealistic expectations, but Peter Taylor's done a very good job in difficult circumstances. He was tested this season by injuries, but next season could be an even bigger test when he's, hopefully, got a full squad and will be expected to push on.

Who were the stars, and who flopped?
Goalkeeper Boaz Myhill has been outstanding. Defender Leon Cort has been consistent, and centre forward Jon ‘The Beast' Parkin made an impact. Stuart Elliott has failed to rekindle his form of last season, and his future at the club is under question by some.

Who were the best, and worst, away fans?
Burnley fans have got behind their team throughout the season. A lot of Cardiff fans didn't seem interested in the football.

Top hate figure at another club.
Sheffield United's Paddy Kenny angered our fans at Brammall Lane for getting away with a clear foul in the box, time wasting, and taunting our supporters after his side scored the winner.

The Championship's best five players - not including players from your own club.
Wolves will badly miss Kenny Miller when he joins Celtic. Derby's Seth Johnson and Coventry's Dennis Wise were the kind of midfield players we've needed. Joey Gudjonsson scored two unbelievable goals against us for Leicester. Darren Ward was a rock for Palace.
