Lost Liaison

My first column on here (Premiership Representation) looked at the way the Fans' Liaison Committee worked, its formation, and the way forward for those on the selected committee. With the club now suddenly changing their stance on away ticket allocation, I ask is there even a reason for the FLC to continue?

I applauded Adam Pearson when he formed the FLC. It gave each and every supporter the ability to reach the very heart of the club and whether or not you believe in those on the committee, listening to the fans can only be for the good of the club.

Yesterday's shock announcement affects thousands of Hull City supporters. Many supporters who sat in relative comfort knowing they will be able to get tickets for the majority of away games now face the complete randomness of a ballot. The flip side being, of course, that many new supporters have now got the opportunity to follow City at games where they would have previously been ticket-less.

Surely for a decision that has such far reaching consequences it is only right that the FLC should discuss at length the pros and cons, having taken into consideration those they represent. If not, what is the point of having token meetings if the club is not willing to open its ears?

As I understand it, the next meeting of the FLC is scheduled for October. That's the third opportunity this season that the Chairman has had to meet up with this group of volunteers. When you consider that the season is 9 months long, already nearly a quarter of possible meetings have not taken place.

Is it possible that Paul Duffen has a different opinion on the adoption of the FLC? Does he simply not want to listen to supporters' voices or is he not sure of the necessity of such a committee?

With the ticket policy now changed, do you think it would have been better for the proposed new system to be openly discussed at further FLC meetings or is it your opinion that the FLC should now be scrapped if further decisions simply bypass those who sit on it?
