Goal of the Month

Last updated : 01 November 2007 By Andy Beill
The six goals scored this month were as follows:

Steve McPhee's consolation goal in injury time of the 1-2 defeat to Charlton Athletic at the KC Stadium on Tuesday 2nd October. Bryan Hughes squared the ball and McPhee finished from close range for his first league goal for the club.

Dean Marney's penalty at Crystal Palace four days later also came in injury time to earn City a point after Michael Turner was fouled in the box, and subsequently earn Eagles boss Peter Taylor the sack.

Fraizer Campbell got off the mark 7 minutes into his home debut. He beat the Barnsley offside trap to latch onto Dean Windass's through ball and finished calmly.

Fraizer Campbell's second goal in that match came just 11 minutes later. He shrugged off the challenges of three defenders to force his way towards goal and shoot across the keeper into the far corner.

Dean Marney made it 3-0 in stoppage time. Steve McPhee came forwards with the ball on the counter attack before unselfishly laying the ball off for Marney to hit home first time.

Dean Windass scored from the penalty spot against his former club Sheffield United on Saturday. Bryan Hughes took a quick throw-in to Fraizer Campbell who was brought down on the corner of the area, and Windass sent the goalkeeper the wrong way in front of the fans in the South Stand.
