Winning Start for Reserves

Boro were reduced to ten men after just 7 minutes when Gary Bradshaw was hit in an off-the-ball incident.

Scott Kerr had City's first chance of the game after 18 minutes. Bradshaw headed across goal, but the former Bradford midfielder arrived just too late and shot wide. Nathan Peat had a decent effort from distance minutes later.

However, the goal wasn't long in coming and it was Peat that got it. Good work from Bradshaw on the right wing allowed him to play it through Kerr, who crossed low for Peat to bury it past the Seadogs' keeper Walker.

Ryan Williams had a good chance to make it 2-0 five minutes before half time. Peat came out on the counter attack after defending a corner, and played it long for Bradshaw. He laid it off for Williams, but his shot was straight at Walker.

City had a short spell of chances 10 minutes into the second half. Walker tipped a fierce Nathan Peat shot over the bar, and from the corner he made another good save to deny Gary Bradshaw's overhead kick. Then Scott Kerr shot just wide when Peat crossed in low.

City continued to dominate, with Peat and Kerr having further chances.

Bradshaw very nearly sealed his great performance with a goal three minutes from time, seeing his header clawed off the line by Walker.

But it stayed at 1-0, with Scarborough never in the game after having a man sent off so early on.

City line-up (4-3-3): Musselwhite; Edwards, Greaves, Burton, Chapman; Kerr, Petty, Philpott (Heard 70); Williams, Bradshaw, Peat.
