Post Match Reaction: Sheff Wed 1-1 Hull City

Hour and twenty minutes to get out of Sheffield! At least we saw kick-off though.

I thought we played them off the park right until Barmby went off. In one second, we suddenly became unable to pass the football. The rest was dire, no possesion, Wednesday coming at us on that big wide pitch, full backs overlapping. We should have been 3 up, but ended up having to defend.

Their goal looked sloppy, although to be honest it looked like a nothing pass to me and then Best appeared from behind a pole!

Our goal was class, Ash to Fagan, great touch over the top and a hell of a low volley from Barmby. Corty had a header cleared off the line, and then after half time Price came inside onto a pass, went around the keeper and his shot was saved on the line. A great move led to a lay off to Price, into Andrews bursting in, ball to Elliott, in the clear, 8 yards out and he missed. Gutted. A superb left footed volley aside, it was the only thing he did.

They attacked for the rest of the game following the withdrawal of Barmby and the excellent Price. However, they really didn't create much. Ash made a good last ditch tackle and was great going backwards but poor forwards. Coles was too far in all of the time, please play a bloody right back at right back, Taylor, you mug!!! Also thought Price did a better job of helping back than Green. Andrews did really well, much better then Green on Saturday, Fagan had a good first half then disappeared, Boaz really commanded his penalty area, Cort and Delaney dealt with the big hoofs and did OK, although someone did lose Best. Edge was solid, Elliott was useless, he drew a yellow card from Simek with his first touch and then rather then torture him, he took crap potshots whenever he got the ball.

Ratings: Bo 8, Coles 5, Edge 6, Delaney 6, Cort 7, Price 7 (Green), Elliott 5, Ashbee 7, Andrews 7, Barmby 8 (McPhee), Fagan 6 (Burgess).

On to Wolves, I'm off to pray for a miracle.

p.s. Just seen goal on TV. Looks like mis-hit cross, foiled defence and Coles lost Best at the back post.
