Player Ratings: Hull City 0-1 Sunderland

Last updated : 28 October 2006 By Andy Beill
Boaz Myhill (6) - His goal didn't look safe and few of Sunderland's misses were due to his saves.

Sam Ricketts (6) - Would be better on the left. Crosses keep coming in.

Andy Dawson (6) - No cohesion between him and Turner. Maybe took a gamble going for the ball that led to the goal.

Danny Mills (8) - Dominant as usual. Reads the game well and anticipates where the ball will land to clear it.

Michael Turner (6) - Made one good saving clearance. Otherwise, very poor. Outmuscled by the opposition forwards and never took control of the situation. Backs off when players approach him. Hesitant in going for the ball when he could make a challenge or clearance - there's nothing wrong with booting the ball into the crowd and taking the man, but he doesn't do it.

Craig Fagan (6) - Missed three, if not four, excellent chances to score. If he'd have put any of these away, which I'm certain Michael Bridges, Nick Barmby or Stuart Elliott would have done, we could have nicked something from this game.

Damien Delaney (7) - Did well playing completely out of position. Put in a lot of tackles and effectively played as a second left-back, usually stopping the ball before it got as far as Dawson. Didn't look as commanding in the centre of midfield. No complaints for the booking; the tackle was very late.

John Welsh (7) - Let Dwight Yorke know he was there with a couple of fouls. Gives us energy and battle, but is asked to win too much in the air for such a small player.

Ian Ashbee (7) - Was needed to do a lot of the defenders' work. Fought well.

Jon Parkin (5) - Couple of good touches when the ball was played at him. When it wasn't played at him, he was nowhere near it. Totally immobile, no pace or movement whatsoever, and should have been taken off instead of Forster.

Nicky Forster (7) - Makes good runs and did well to get in for a couple of half chances, but was generally lacking service and support. Unlucky to be taken off.

Subs
Ryan France (6) - Not good enough. Made no impact.

Nick Barmby - Couldn't catch the man after Dawson left him exposed for the goal. Still not playing in his best position.

Michael Bridges - Would have thrived on some of the chances we missed before he came on.
