Player Ratings: Hull City 0-1 Coventry City

Last updated : 26 August 2006 By Andy Beill
Boaz Myhill (6) - Wasn't really tested besides a long range shot that was probably going wide, and the goal that he didn't have much chance with. Used his full backs at times, but other clearances were not so clever.

Sam Ricketts (6) - Attacked slightly more than usual but didn't get in positions to cross, and one time he did the ball was very poor and went out. Lacks options when he has the ball - needs his teammates to show for the ball.

Andy Dawson (7) - As with the full back on the other side, he's not given an outlet to play the ball to. Had a couple of long range shots which was nice to see again (it's been a long time since a Dawson goal), although not on target they still helped us to threaten Coventry.

Michael Turner (7) - Fine.

Sam Collins (7) - Still looking solid and is more of a presence than Turner.

Craig Fagan (6) - Didn't get in the game very much, and besides one or two corners won he didn't get much out of the Coventry full back.

Ryan France (6) - Mis-controlled once or twice and had a poor shot on goal, that wasted possession.

Dean Marney (7) - Came forwards a bit more than he has been doing and had a couple of better shots on goal. This was more encouraging, but we still need to see him do more.

David Livermore (6) - Could have done better in breaking up some attacks. Didn't show for the ball when our full backs were in possession, leaving them with little to do with it.

Darryl Duffy (6) - Never looked like scoring after that blip on Tuesday. Positional play was still poor and centre backs like Page and Ward are never going to be troubled.

Jon Parkin (6) - Missed one guilt edged chance, and had another chance to head on goal but didn't take it. Was winning nothing in the air against the Coventry centre backs - and there were a lot of balls in the air for him to try to win.

Subs
Ben Burgess (6) - Won a few headers, more than Parkin won all game before him, but they didn't go to a teammate, not that anyone was looking to run on to his knock-ons. He can still make an impact on games, and looked more like scoring than any of our other forwards.

Nick Barmby (5) - Made no impact whatsoever. Had a couple of poor touches, other than that he just wasn't in the game. If we want him to create chances, we must look to play him somewhere where he can do that.
