Donny Getting Closed Down

Last updated : 27 March 2004 By Andy Beill
Oxford's debutant goalkeeper Simon Cox made a series of saves to keep out Donny in a 0-0 draw. Rovers have now drawn four of their last five games, while a point for Graham Rix's side keeps them in the hunt for promotion.

Hull City and Huddersfield Town still have the upper hand though after both won again today. The Tigers narrowly beat Rochdale 1-0 thanks to a rare goal from defender Damien Delaney, and they're now three points off the top with a game in hand. Huddersfield remain in 3rd place, three points behind City. The Terriers beat Swansea 3-0 today, with Danny Schofield scoring twice and assisting Anthony Lloyd for the third.

The play-off teams all drew today. 4th-placed Torquay went behind to an early Barry Conlon deflection, but star striker David Graham levelled midway through the second half to earn them a draw at Darlington. The Gulls stay a point ahead of Oxford.

6th-placed Lincoln also had to come from behind to get a lucky point. Simon Brown put the visiting Kidderminster ahead just after half time, but Marcus Richardson saved the home side with an 89th minute equaliser.

Mansfield prevented Yeovil from taking their play-off spot. Rhys Day (79) cancelled out Terry Skiverton's 61st minute goal for another 1-1 draw.

Northampton keep up their push for a play-off place themselves. Marc Richards - who had only scored one league goal this season - found the net four times in the opening 39 minutes at Macclesfield. The 4-0 win sees the Cobblers go 9th.

Carlisle were unable to gain ground on Macclesfield though. Southend beat them 2-1 at Brunton Park.

Bristol Rovers - with five new signings in their side - got a much needed 3-0 win against York. Rovers are up to 18th while York slip to 4th from bottom.

Russ Wilcox was denied a win in his first game as Scunthorpe caretaker manager. After going ahead through Matthew Sparrow's 7th minute goal, Leyton Orient substitute Wayne Purser equalised 10 minutes from time.

Elsewhere there were wins for Boston and Cambridge, with Bury and Cheltenham on the receiving ends.
