Paul Barnes has left Doncaster Rovers and joined Conference side Tamworth. The 36-year-old striker was told he could leave Rovers on a free last week and despite interest from his former club York City he chose to join the struggling non-league side. Meanwhile defender Tim Ryan has also signed a new contract that will see him stay at Belle Vue until June 2006.

Kidderminster Harries have had a bid for striker Scott Rickards turned down by Conference outfit Tamworth. Director of Football Jan Molby sent a bid for the player but it was rejected straight away.

Carlisle United boss Paul Simpson is taking a look at striker Paul Chow and midfielder Chris Moore as he bids to keep the Cumbrians up. Chow has already played ion a reserve team game but Simpson wants a second look on the player while Moore - who plays for Newcastle United - is going for a trial with the struggling club.

Macclesfield Town have extended the loan deal of defender Rob Jones despite being sidelined through injury until the new year.

Huddersfield Town manager Peter Jackson has signalled his intention to secure promising youngster Nathan Clarke on a new long term contract. Clarke - who made his debut two years ago - has come through the academy at the club and has been one of the best players for the club this season. Jackson has already signed three more youngsters on two year deals recently. Defenders Anthony Lloyd and David Marfin along with midfielder Andy Holdsworth have all agreed to stay with the club.

Leyton Orient chairman Barry Hearn has hinted that current caretaker boss Martin Ling is now the favourite to land the role on a full-time basis. Ling has won six of his 12 games since he took charge of The O's.

Halifax Town winger Lee Elam has signed for Yeovil Town on a permanent basis after his loan deal at the club expired. The 27-year-old has signed an 18-month contract at the club after impressing manager Gary Johnson.

Oxford United chairman Firoz kassam has turned down a bid for the club and is set to stay on at the club. Kassam has also promised to reward manager Ian Atkins along with 90% of the current playing staff with new contracts if the club achieve promotion to the Second Division this season.

Boston United manager Neil Thompson has said he is not interested in re-signing Abebaye Akinfenwa after the striker was released by Leyton Orient.

Bury player-boss Andy Preece has been handed a boost with the news that Simon Whaley's knee operation was a success. The midfielder underwent surgery in a bid to repair a torn cartilage.

Swansea City youngster Richard Duffy is said to interesting Premiership side Portsmouth. The 18-year-old has become a first team regular this season under Bryan Flynn but made his debut two years ago aged just 16.

Darlington duo Ryan Valentine and Barry Conlon have appealed against the red cards they shown during the 2-2 draw with Scunthorpe.
