Darlington manager David Hodgson has failed in an attempt to bring former Quaker James Coppinger to the Reynolds Arena. Coppinger was a youth player at the club but didn't make an appearance before Newcastle United paid £250,000 for his services. Hodgson wanted the 22-year old - currently at Conference side Exeter - to join initially on loan with a view to a permanent move but Exeter boss Eamonn Dolan rejected the offer.

Northampton Town defender Chris Carruthers has been selected in the England squad for the World Youth Championship. The tournament takes place later this month in the UAE and Town boss Colin Calderwood will be without his services for almost a month. Calderwood has also announced that England youth international and Birmingham City left back Matthew Sadler has joined the Cobblers on a loan for one month.

Boston United striker Richard Logan has been linked with a permanent move to Second Division Peterborough United - where he is currently on loan. It has been reported that Logan - who joined the Posh on loan in September - is keen to stay on at Barry Fry's side.

Leyton Orient have been dealt a major blow with the news that defender Dave McGhee now requires an operation on his injured ankle. McGhee will be out of action until the new year. O's boss Martin Ling has also had a bid to take Charlton Athletic defender Michael Turner on loan rejected by the Premiership side.

The official club website has reported that Oxford United striker Mark Rawle's injury is not as bad as first feared. Rawle was carried off during a reserve team game but checks on his ankle showed that no serious injuries were suffered.

Rochdale boss has signed Walsall striker Andy Bishop in a one month loan deal.

Bury midfielder Harpel Singh - currently on loan from Leeds United - requires an operation to repair his dislocated shoulder despite the club initially thinking the injury was not that serious. The 23-year old will be sidelined for three to four months after the operation.

Cambridge United manager John Taylor has said the club have received no enquires for midfielder Luke Guttridge. The highly-rated youngster had been rumoured to be interesting Premiership sides including Leeds and Spurs.

Huddersfield Town boss Peter Jackson has sign Preston North End youngster Fola Onibuje on a month's loan. The 18-year old is highly thought of by Preston boss Craig Brown but has been sent to the Terriers in order to gain some first team experience.

Anthony Williams has joined Swansea City on a month's loan from Second Division Hartlepool United. Williams has failed to regain the number 1 spot since being dropped after a poor performance on the opening day of the season.

Lee Howells made his 450th appearance for Cheltenham Town in last weekend's defeat at Torquay. The 35-year old made his debut for the club back in November 1991 when the Robins were playing the Conference.

Boston United's transfer listed full-back Graham Potter has joined Conference side Shrewsbury Town on a month long loan deal.

Junior Agogo is set to kick-start his Bristol Rovers career after making his return in the reserve side during a Gloucestershire Cup cup tie with Cinderford. Agogo signed for Rovers in the summer from Conference side Barnet but suffered problems with his cartilage in a pre-season fixture with Forest Green and has been out of action ever since.

York City player-manager Chris Brass has indicated that he wants to sign on loan defender Richard Hope on a permanent basis. Hope has put in some impressive performances of late but his loan deal with the club expires in December.

Brian Wake and David Lynn have become the first players to leave Carlisle United after manager Paul Simpson transfer-listed nine players earlier in the week. Wake has joined Scottish Third Division side Gretna whilst Lynn has gone on-loan with a view to a permanent deal with Unibond division One side Workington.
