Zaki Goes Back

Zaki joined on loan from Egyptian club Zamalek in January. He made four substitute appearances as he sought full match fitness before making it into Phil Brown's starting eleven for the heavy defeats at West Ham and Everton.

He sustained a knee injury for which he has been receiving treatment in Egypt, and returned to Hull this week. However, as the forward is still over a week away from recovery he would, at best, only be available for the final two games of the season so Iain Dowie has decided his limited availability is not worth keeping him for.

Zaki's previous season saw him become one of the most wanted strikers in Europe before things went sour at Wigan. He joined City with a point to prove but, whatever the circumstances have been, he has failed to achieve that.

It will be a particular disappointment for chairman Adam Pearson who had high hopes for City's sole signing in January to steer the side away from relegation.
