The Driffield-born midfielder joined City in the summer in a £25,000 move from Peterborough, only to leave again in January after failing to make an impact. He joined Grimsby on a free transfer, though City will still receive a nominal fee if he helps the Mariners to promotion from League Two this season.

That will be the 26-year-old's final act in football though, as he will quit the game at the end of the season to become a professional boxer.

5'8" Woodhouse was once tipped to be a big star in football, gaining recognition at Under-18 and Under-21 levels for England, and making a £1million move from Sheffield United to Birmingham City at the age of 21, where he made 3 Premiership appearances.
