The former Tigers boss, 55 who departed the KC Stadium this summer replaces Roberto Di Matteo after the Villa Park made a slow start to their new life in the Championship. The Italian was relieved of his duties on 3rd October having claimed just one point from twelve matches this season.

"I relish the challenge of trying to take the club where it wants to go and needs to be – and try to turn around the misfortune we seem to have had over the past few years. I am absolutely delighted to have been given the chance. I hope I can do my stuff."
