A statement on Hull City's official site expresses the chairman's disappointment that Peter Taylor is no longer the manager, after his switch to Crystal Palace, and thanked him for the success he achieved in just under four years in Hull.

Pearson wishes Taylor well in his new job, and thanked his counterpart at Selhurst Park, Simon Jordan, for his professionalism.

Taylor's successor will be in place by the end of the month in time for pre-season training, due to start on 3rd July. Pearson will make the recruitment "very promptly" and have it tied up "within the next ten to fourteen days."

Meanwhile, Taylor said he "thoroughly enjoyed" his spell as Hull City manager, but had "no doubt" that he wanted to go back to his former club Crystal Palace once the manager's position became available.
