Transfer deadline

Well the transfer window is now truly closed and Hull City failed, by will or by finances but probably both, to make any positive movement with the squad’s future. They stayed out of the lime light and kept to the shadows of a fairly quiet transfer period overall. It looks like, for the time being anyway, City will have to concentrate on bringing  through the young hopefuls and relying on some degree to a few loan signings, the latest being Anthony Gerrard on a visit from Cardiff who hopefully will put in  a shift or two along the back in an effort to seal the leaking defence.

Whatever plans the two Pearson’s have up their sleeves, there remains one fact...We have a limited amount of players to work with and let’s face it, we show signs of not having the quality required to effectively challenge for a top half of the table position, let alone promotion. I don’t buy into the “Blind Faith” rubbish that is touted by the masses of City Hardcore excuse makers but saying that, we can all be forgiven for backing Brown and giving him chance after chance after chance, ...well no more...To help make our team HULL CITY, the gritty side we have watched over the years we need to call it like it is, Identify the problems, flag it up, provide opinions and solutions and ask but one thing of the lads...100% commitment and effort, both in training and on match days.

Last week’s performance at Doncaster needs to improve massively, Both City and Donny where evenly matched with regards to possession but the workmanlike approach of Rovers showed through above and beyond City’s desire. I promising start by Barmby but in the age old pre scripted tradition of Hull City, we give a goal away a minute before the whistle and from then on its always down hill, Sharpe getting the goal that fired up Donny into action. Ian Ashbee is way off match fitness and this for me was a telling sign of Doncaster being able to thread passes at ease through the middle of the park but you have to hand it to Ash, if you chopped his arm off he would bleed black and amber, his effort is worth a statue at the KC entrance if nothing else. So come on you 2 Pearsons, lets regroup and fire the lads up...after all, you don’t want to end up as the 2 Ronnies.
