Gary Alexander - scored his 22nd of the season
City took the lead on the half-hour mark when Gary Alexander latched on to Mark Greaves' header to finish past Dearden. The home side were not happy after claiming offside and Rees was shown a yellow card for dissent.

Torquay had the better of a scrappy second half, and Rob Matthews went into the book after only 3 minutes for a late challenge.

The Gulls pulled level on 61 minutes with Steve Woods heading in Hankin's cross from close range.

Lawrie Dudfield limped off 3 minutes later to be replaced by Neil Roberts, and Richard Sneekes and Theo Whitmore also came on later in the half.

Paul Musselwhite made several great saves to keep City in the match.

The last action of the game saw Theo Whitmore waste the chance to put Alexander through on goal with a poor pass.

Starting line-up (4-4-2): Musselwhite; Edwards, Whittle, Wicks, Van Blerk; Williams (Whitmore), Johnsson (Sneekes), Greaves, Matthews; Alexander, Dudfield (Roberts).
Un-used subs: Glennon, Holt.
