Taylor Gone In The Morning?

Taylor enjoyed a succesful spell at Selhurst Park as a player, winning England caps despite Palace being in the Third Division. He admits regretting leaving the club, but a return could be imminent.

The Eagles' Director of Football, Bob Dowie - brother of Iain Dowie who left for Charlton recently - has revealed that Taylor is up against Luton manager Mike Newell for the job, after Graeme Souness turned it down. Taylor has had talks with chairman Simon Jordan, and says he, and everyone else, would like "a quick decision." Bob Dowie says that will be made on Monday or Tuesday.

With the exception of Youth Team coach Billy Russell, the entire coaching team at City - assistant Colin Murphy, first team coach Steve Butler and goalkeeping coach Mark Pruhoe - have been appointed by Taylor, and he may want to take them with him to Selhurst Park, if he gets the job. He may also try to prize City's star players away, such as player of the year Boaz Myhill and Southwark-born defender Leon Cort.

City are yet to enter into any transfer activity this summer, and are unlikely to until the future of the manager is certain.
