The 26-year-old Bolton-born centre back was recently released by the 'Well, who are in severe financial difficulties.

Jan Molby has said on numerous occassions that he is looking to sign a big defender, and also said that he is looking at someone from the Scottish Premier League. At 6'2", Strong definitely fits the bill.

He started his career as a trainee at Wigan, making 44 appearances in all competitions for the Latics. He then went to Bolton in 1995 but failed to command a place in the first team.

He went on loan to Blackpool and Stoke, and then to Motherwell in March 2000 where he impressed in his 10 starts. 'Well took the opportunity to sign him at the end of his loan spell, costing them £150,000.

He has made over 60 starts in two full seasons of Scottish football, before being released when the club went into administration. Partick Thistle are also rumoured to be interested in him.
