Shoulder injury sidelines McGregor

The 32-year-old has been managing the injury since the start of the season but has now been prescribed a period of complete rest and will sit out for both club and country until November.

That means he will not link up with his country for the games against Georgia and Poland, while giving veteran Steve Harper a Barclays Premier League return this weekend against Crystal Palace.

"The specialist has said he needs to rest and stop diving on it," said Hull boss Steve Bruce

"If you've got a sore shoulder and he's diving on it every day we need to take him out and make sure he recovers

"H opefully in four to six weeks he'll be back to normal

We're just delighted he doesn't need an operation

We first thought it might need one."
