Shakespeare salutes Simpson impact

Simpson, preferred as an impact player in the last couple of months, stepped off the bench to replace James Harper in the 67th minute at the Liberty Stadium and set up team-mate Corry Evans for the equaliser three minutes later.

Shakespeare said: "Jay made a difference. We changed our shape two or three times during the game to try and get a foothold and give Swansea some problems.

"What you want from any substitute is to make an impact and Jay did that not only with his general play but with his efforts on goal and his terrific assist."

The 1-1 draw lifted Hull to within four points of the play-offs with five games remaining.
