Ref Watch

Mr. Warren has been a league referee since 1998. Previously he was a very accomplished assistant referee.

The height of his career came in '98, when he ran the line in the World Cup Final between France and Brazil.

Domestically he was linesman for the '97 League Cup Final and the '95 FA Cup Final. In '94 he was flagging in the Charity Shield and the First Division Play-Off Final.

Since turning ref, City have had the 41-year-old four times. The first was in September '99, when City made the long trip down to Torquay. Mr. Warren gave us a 33rd minute penalty which John Eyre despatched, and 1-0 is how it finished.

In February 2000 he saw us lose 2-1 at Peterborough. Gary Brabin had put City in front 3 minutes into the second half, but the Posh equalised 6 minutes later. Mr. Warren sent off Jon Whitney 7 minutes later, and the home side found got the winning goal in the 88th minute.

Last November he was the man in the middle when we drew 0-0 at Kettering in the FA Cup First Round. He was also ref for the replay, which we lost 1-0.

In the 23 matches he's refereed this season, Mr. Warren has sent off 7 players and shown 82 yellows. None of those games involved City.
