Problems Threaten Cup Chances

Strikers Michael Bridges and Nicky Forster are cup-tied after appearing for their previous clubs, Carlisle and Ipswich respectively, in the first round of the competition. Jon Parkin will stay in the side after his two goals secured victory against Sheffield Wednesday in the league on Friday. He could be partnered by Nick Barmby, a substitute in that game, or Darryl Duffy, whose extra time winner against Tranmere put City through to this stage of the Cup. Craig Fagan is another option, moving from the wing to a central striking position.

The terms of Danny Mills' loan deal prevents him from playing tonight as well, in case Manchester City require his services later in the competition. Sam Collins will return in his place.

Ian Ashbee is ruled out with a virus while David Livermore has an ankle injury. John Welsh is expected to be in the starting eleven for the first time since the second game of the season. Dean Marney will also return to the centre of midfield.

Mark Yeates, on loan from Tottenham, is allowed to play and could make his Tigers debut on the left wing.

Parkinson will field the strongest team available to him. Andy Dawson will get the captaincy back for the night.

Expected line-up (4-4-2): Boaz Myhill; Sam Ricketts, Michael Turner, Sam Collins, Andy Dawson; Craig Fagan, John Welsh, Dean Marney, Mark Yeates; Jon Parkin, Nick Barmby.
Subs: Matt Duke, Alton Thelwell, Ryan France, Stuart Elliott, Darryl Duffy.
