Press Conference Announced

The press conference will be held at 4pm tomorrow (Tuesday) in the Selhurst Park boardroom, when Taylor's near 4-year spell as Hull City manager will officially come to an end - should he be the man unveiled as Iain Dowie's successor.

Trinity Mirror has already claimed, "Taylor is new Palace boss," but the Eagles are not making any comment until the press conference.

Tigers chairman Adam Pearson is also declining to speak to the media, but will shortly have to search for a new manager. Mick McCarthy has been touted as a possible replacement. The Barnsley-born 47-year-old was a centre back for his hometown club before spells at Manchester City, Celtic, Lyon and Millwall in his playing days. It was at Millwall that he began his career as a manager, before becoming manager of the Republic of Ireland - whom he had won 57 caps for - in 1996. After 6½ years and qualification for only one major tournament - the 2002 World Cup - he resigned, and then took over at Sunderland in 2003. His only managerial accolade is the 2004/05 Championship title won with the Black Cats, prior to being sacked in March of this year for a dismal Premiership season. He has no prior connections with Hull City.
