Pearson takes responsibility

Hull manager Nigel Pearson has apologised to the club's travelling fans following his side's poor midweek display at Burnley. The Tigers arrived at Turf Moor in good spirits after wins over Derby and Norwich and a goalless draw with Nottingham Forest, but Pearson was forced to accept responsibility after his side slumped to a 4-0 defeat. Pearson said: "We did the basics poorly. It's my team, so it's my responsibility and we'll be working hard to rectify things. "It became a damage limitation exercise, but I still didn't think we showed enough discipline. I feel bitterly disappointed for the fans that travelled across. "I'm sure they went home and thought `what the hell have I seen there?' because it just wasn't good enough."
