Pearson lauds Barmby

Hull manager Nigel Pearson has hailed Nick Barmby as a "fantastic example" following his transition from player to player-coach. Barmby, 36, could be in his final season as a player after taking on more coaching responsibilities at the KC Stadium, but Pearson insists he still has a big role to play on the pitch. Pearson told the Hull Daily Mail: "Nick Barmby, at 36, is a fantastic example for anyone for what you can still achieve no matter of your age." On Barmby's coaching duties, Pearson added: "It'll be good for his long-term development because I'm sure he wants to stay in the game as a coach in some capacity. "Clearly he can still bring something to the pitch for us, but it's never easy for a player-coach to get the balance right. "For him to have been solely in the dressing room to now have that added responsibility can be tough. You'd have to ask him if he's enjoying it, but I think he's doing very well."
