Pearson defends selection policy

Nigel Pearson has hit back at critics who claim he has been tinkering too much with his starting line-up. The Tigers have made an indifferent start to the seasin in the npower Championship following relegation, with Pearson yet to settle on a settled formation. But ahead of Saturday's home clash with Portsmouth, Pearson said: "I'm certainly not going to rule out changes. "It would be nice to have a more settled side, I'd be the first to agree with that. However, I'm hoping that we get performances that tell me those players need to be in the side. "When I get those performances I'll be delighted to keep an unchanged side. "I know the fans are probably scratching their heads because from being in the Premier League to scratching around at the wrong end of the Championship is not what we want."
