The ex-England international joined the Tigers in February on a pay-as-you-play deal, making his debut as a substitute away to Derby and then starting the remaining 14 games of the season.
Phil Brown will now seek a replacement midfielder, and could be alerted by the news that Seth Johnson has been released by Derby.
