Midfielder Scott Kerr made his long-awaited comeback from injury as a substitute at Selby last night. Neil Mann and Gary Bradshaw also made their returns.

The home side scored three first half goals with no reply, and so the Tigers XI lost the match 3-0. City included trialists from Arsenal, Sunderland and Stalybridge Celtic in their starting line-up.

City target Colin Larkin is joining Mansfield Town. Wolves had rejected City's bid of £100,000, but Larkin is now negotiating personal terms with the Stags after a £135,000 fee was agreed. They need a new forward after top-scorer Chris Greenacre left for Stoke.

City have announced record season ticket sales. Chairman Adam Pearson is predicting that up to 5,000 may be sold by the start of the season. Sales are 20% up on this time last year.
