Myhill Considered For Wales Call-Up

It is thought that Myhill has Welsh grandparents, who would qualify him to play for John Toshack's Wales team.

Myhill himself was born in California 22 years ago, but was brought up in England. He has represented England at youth level up to and including Under-20s, being able to do so because his mother is from Shropshire. This would not prevent him from appearing for another nation at full level though.

Danny Coyne was given the number 1 shirt for Wales' last match - despite not appearing for his club side Burnley since October - but let his side down by conceding a howler against Austria. A lack of first team action has also been a problem for other Welsh keepers such as veterens Paul Jones, Darren Ward, Martyn Margetson and Mark Crossley, as well as Ipswich's Jason Price who was recently promoted from the Under-21 side.

Myhill has the edge over all of them though, having been almost ever present since signing for City from Aston Villa in December 2003, clocking up 67 first team appearances. If he is eligible he may well get a call-up for Wales' next fixture - against England at the Millennium Stadium in September.
