McShane and Cooper Sign

Sunderland defender McShane has signed on loan until the end of the season, taking up the club's second loan allocation. The 22-year-old has been capped 11 times by the Republic if Ireland. He began his career in England with Manchester United but didn't play. After loan spells at Walsall and Brighton, he joined West Brom in 2006 and then Sunderland a year later, making a total of 102 appearances for all clubs.

Cooper signs a three-year professional contract after turning 17 today. He made his debut in the Carling Cup defeat at Swansea on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, chairman Paul Duffen has confirmed a bid worth £7million has been put to Manchester United for striker Fraizer Campbell.
