Match Off

Staff and volunteers have been working for the past few days to clear the pitch of snow in order for the match to go ahead, but a local referee has given it the thumbs down at a 2 o'clock pitch inspection.

The club would have received around £30,000 from TV revenue if it had gone ahead, but due to the condition of the south side of the ground in particular they now miss out on the windfall.

It is now our third fixture from our last four which has been postponed due to the weather. The Boxing Day fixture at York was the first, before the home games with Hartlepool and Carlisle also fell foul of the winter weather. City may be forced into playing two games a week throughout February with all the postponements stacking up.

The Division 3 games at Rochdale and Shrewsbury are both facing pitch inspections, while Luton's game with Exeter has already been called off. Many FA Cup games around the country have also been beaten by the weather.
