Taylor brought in 6'5" trialist Matt Duke for last night's friendly at Alfreton Town, where he kept a clean sheet over 90 minutes in the 2-0 win. The 27-year-old impressed, and Taylor is hoping to keep him for Saturday's friendly with Spurs.

The former Sheffield United and Bury 'keeper is currently contracted to Burton Albion, but Taylor is in talks with their manager Nigel Clough to extend his trial period.

However, he's not the only stopper that City are looking at. Steve Mildenhall of Notts County is rumoured to be considering a 2-year contract from City, although Blackpool are also after the wantaway 'keeper.

Middlesbrough's David Knight is another goalkeeper Taylor is interested in. The England youth international could arrive on a season-long loan.

A move for Brighton's Michel Kuipers has previously been ruled out though.
