Dean Keates - scores on home debut
City were much livelier from the start than they have been in recent games but still went behind after 18 minutes. Goalkeeper Matt Glennon failed to properly clear from a Justin Whittle backpass. Orient came down the left and as the cross came in nobody followed the run of Ciaran Toner who finished at the back post to make it 1-0.

The O's came close to making it 2-0 but Glennon saved a Steve Watts corner from point-blank range following a corner.

City were still in the game though and Ian Ashbee fired in an effort from 20 yards, but the Orient 'keeper Barrett made a great diving save.

City carried on pressing and got their reward 7 minutes before half time. The ball pinged around the edge of the Orient box, but Dean Keates made it his with a first-time left-foot shot which left Barrett with no chance.

Orient should have restored their lead just a minute later, but Glennon kept City in the match with a fantastic reaction save from Toner.

In the second half, Gary Alexander and Gary Bradshaw both failed to make the most of good chances.

The game could have gone either way with both sides carving out a number of chances, but a draw was a fair result and Tigers manager Jan Molby will be happy with the way his side performed.

City line-up (4-3-3): Glennon; Regan, Whittle, Anderson, Smith; Keates, Ashbee, Williams; Johnson (Morrison 88), Alexander, Bradshaw (Dudfield 64).
Un-used subs: Musselwhite, Edwards, Price.
