The 32-year-old midfielder has been a huge success at Portman Road, scoring four goals in 11 appearances to help lift the Tractor Boys clear of the Championship relegation zone.

But boss Paul Jewell admitted Bullard's ?45,000-a-week contract with the Tigers, which still has two years to run, could prove a major stumbling block.

Jewell said: 'I can confirm we are talking to Hull but it is obviously a difficult financial deal. However, if we can do something we are keen to do it and having enjoyed his time here Jimmy is also keen.'

Ipswich have also offered one-year deals to Irish goalkeeper Brian Murphy, 27, and midfielder Colin Healy, 31, whose current deals expire in the summer.?
