Harper hurt by Royals rally

Harper struck with a fine effort in the 39th minute against his former club on Tuesday to register his first goal for the Tigers but a late Simon Church leveller ensured the spoils were shared.

And while the 30-year-old was happy to have netted and helped extend City's unbeaten run to eight matches, the midfielder was frustrated not to have earned a maximum return at the KC Stadium.

Harper told the club's official website: "It wasn't a bad goal and it puts to bed that sitter I missed against Scunthorpe. I know their goalkeeper and he is good, so it had to go where it did in order to beat him. I was happy with the goal and it would have been nice if that had won us the game, but it didn't.

"We'll have to settle for the draw, but we're still unbeaten in eight, so happy days. It was an open game and there was a lot of space out there. I never felt we were in danger of losing and we hit the post a couple of times, but it was disappointing to concede late on.

"We've done well recently, so a couple of good results in the next two games would be lovely. It's a tight league and we're only four points off the play-offs. There's a long way to go and, although I don't like using cliches, we've just got to try and win every game."
