Ian Ashbee - scored 'wondergoal'
Ian Ashbee opened the scoring in first half injury time, hitting a volley first time from over 30 yards out leaving Kevin Dearden with no chance in the Torquay goal.

City continued their momentum as they came out for the second half, and Phil Jevons made it 2-0 within two minutes of the restart. He shot from just outside the box and Dearden let it slip past him for Jevons to get his third goal since signing on loan from Grimsby.

Torquay were back in the game 20 minutes into the second half with Kevin Hill scoring from David Graham's left wing cross.

However, City regained their two goal cushion just minutes later as John Anderson met a corner to score his first in City colours.

City were coasting and Stuart Green added a fourth 6 minutes from time. He played a one-two with substitute Gary Alexander, and the midfielder fired past Dearden to take it to 4-1 and complete the scoring in a highly enjoyable start to the manager's job for Peter Taylor.

City line-up (4-4-2): Musselwhite; Regan, Whittle, Anderson, Delaney; Green, Ashbee, Keates, Elliott (Williams 65); Jevons (Alexander 65), Branch (Burton 75)
Un-used subs: Holt, Peat.
