Peter Taylor says that Green would need to make "one almighty recovery" if he is to shake off an ankle injury. He's deciding between Junior Lewis and Andy Hessenthaler to replace him.

Striker Danny Allsopp's ribs could rule him out again, but Craig Fagan joins the squad. He could go straight into the starting eleven, partnering Nick Barmby. That puts either Kevin Ellison or Stuart Elliott's place at threat. Jon Walters is also in contention after returning from his loan spell at Scunthorpe.

Marc Joseph is still out so Taylor could keep an unchanged back four, unless Roland Edge gets a recall.

Jason Price is looking to make a rare start against his former side if Ryan France doesn't play. Ex-Tranmere defender Richard Hinds also returns to Prenton Park, but is expected to watch the match from the stands.

Expected line-up (4-4-2): Myhill; Stockdale, Cort, Delaney, Dawson; France, Ashbee, Lewis, Elliott; Fagan, Barmby.
Subs: Duke, Edge, Hessenthaler, Price, Ellison.
