Fry Plays As England Lose

The midfielder made his first appearance at that level when he came on as a half time substitute against Russia in Moscow yesterday evening.

England were already trailing 2-0 at half time in the friendly, and the 19-year-old couldn't prevent a third goal midway through the second half.

England coach Dick Bate fielded almost completely different sides in each half as he experimented with a number of debutants.

Meanwhile, City boss Peter Taylor had a more successful evening with the England Under-21 side. They beat Denmark 1-0 in a friendly, courtesy of Darren Ambrose's last minute winner.

Tigers winger Stuart Elliott is also on international duty tonight, looking to win his 28th Northern Ireland cap in their friendly at Malta.
