The 29-year-old forward is expected to have recovered from an ankle injury and so will add competition for a place up front. Ben Burgess and Danny Allsopp are already under pressure from Daniel Webb, who scored his first senior goal for City in the LDV Trophy on Tuesday.

Midfielder Ian Ashbee also returns to the reckoning after serving out a suspension, but Alton Thelwell, Ryan France and Steve Melton are ruled out.

Meanwhile, former York City, Bristol Rovers and Bristol City boss John Ward has been appointed the new manager of Cheltenham, but won't take over from caretaker Bob Bloomer until after the game with City at Whaddon Road.
