The former Birmingham trainee is one of the division's top scorers with 14 goals since signing for the U's on a free transfer in the summer. He has, however, also clocked up 12 yellow cards and 1 red in his 34 appearances this season.
If he does sign for City, he could make his debut against promotion rivals Tranmere in a week's time.
