The forward came through the youth ranks at Huddersfield Town before making it in the first team, and then joined Premiership side Bolton in 2002. He has struggled since then though, and joined City on a free transfer in the summer.

He was a first choice starter for a period this season after a slow start, but has struggled to regain that form since injury.

The timing of the move is surprising though given that the 24-year-old started for City at MK Dons on Tuesday, and scored his 6th goal of the season to earn the Tigers a point.

It suggests that Peter Taylor may be about to move for a new striker, with Sheffield United's Luke Beckett and Colchester's Craig Fagan still being talked about.

For today's match though it leaves Taylor with just Nick Barmby, Danny Allsopp and Aaron Wilbraham to chose from, with Stuart Elliott a possible makeshift striker.
