Dawson has played in all four English divisions for the Tigers since being signed by former manager Peter Taylor.
Youngsters Mark Cullen and Tom Cairney have also signed new deals, until 2012 and 2013 respectively.
Meanwhile, Tigers boss Nigel Pearson has confirmed he is keeping an eye on Manchester United's 21-year-old defender James Chester, who has been on-loan at Carlisle United this season.
